Today being 1st February 2018 would go down in history as the day former president Olusegun Obasanjo officially launched the Coalition for Nigeria Movement in Ogun State, south-west Nigeria..
In his Address to dignitaries present, Obasanjo said to their hearing that his letter to President Buhari last week was not born out of frivolities, but out of great concern for the situation of things in the country. Saying Nigeria can not continue Business as usual
The event was at Iwe Iroyin NUJ Press Centre, oke ilewo, Abeokuta Capital of Ogun State.
In attendance at the event were Donald Duke, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Mrs Modupe Adelaja and other top politicians from both the ruling APC and the opposing PDP.
Obasanjo was of the opinion that, based on the various challenges facing the country, the coalition was set up to mobilize Nigerians for peace, unity, security, stability, love, welfare and the wellbeing of vulnurable Nigerians, particularly youth and women who, according to him, has been at the receiving end of national crises.
Some reasons he also gave for the Coalition were, disrespect for the federal character as enshrined in the constitution, the spate of killings and violence across the country, and the parlous state of the economy under the Present Buhari led APC Administration
