In a Punch publication making the rounds online today, it had been revealed how the military formation in Makurdi arrested two suspected fulani herdsmen whom were said to have been on a mission to attack Gov. Samuel Ortom's fish farm and other villages in Guma LGA of Benue state.
This was made clear through a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations 707 Special Force Brigade, Nigerian Army, Major Olabisi Ayeni, made the revelation that the suspect were arrested on teusday while the team were on a routine patrol along Gbamjiba - Iyiodeh road in Guma LGA of Benue state.
Major Ayeni was quoted as saying "The militilia who were suspected to be converging, possibly for an attack on Governor Ortom's fish farm and other innocent citizens were about to be approached for questioning when they opened fire on the troops who later engaged them.
"The violent herdsmen who also fought back was at the same time trying to withdraw.
"The Special Forces Operators intensified their pursuit and succeeded in arresting two of them while others fled in disarray.
The Military spokeman also revealed that The suspected fulani militias were handed over to the police.
